Bio.

Kentucky native artist Charlotte Burgard is a multidisciplinary artist and graduate of the University of Kentucky's Fine Arts Program, Completing a BFA in Studio Art, BA in Art Administration, and Minor in Art History. Charlotte Burgard’s ceramic work captures ephemeral moments in their design while prioritizing ergonomic use and functionality. Their work combines ceramics and fiber in some pieces to explore the complementary and juxtaposed qualities of both materials. The fragility of the ceramic forms with the tenuous appearance of crocheted fiber expresses through visual metaphors how the connections we make hold us together and the importance of connections to craft, art and each other as it becomes all the more important in moments of tension. Their current art practice is inspired by the ephemeral moments found in memories and nature, with a hand crafted, functional approach.
